Fate and not drinking (totally unrelated)

I'm back i guess! Since the owner of the blog has reclaimed it I feel good about writing once again. Onto the show!

I've got a "tradition" of not drinking around my big meet of the season. People have wondered why and I usually answer the short answer "Tradition", but there is some logic... even if it makes no sense. The bigger reason has to do with rest and doing whats good for my body and the reward after the training cycle. The popular idea is that you want to be in peak form at your biggest competition of the year so not drinking generally lets my body heal itself and not spend energy on processing the toxins. Next idea is you want to be well rested for optimal recovery generally drinking involves me staying out late and acting like jack ass so sans liquor i generally go out, but dont stay out as late or stay up as long. Finally... reward... The first ice cold beer after about 2 months of drought is a nice reward. I think it keeps the swimming and the drinking a bit special and rewards good training.

Anyway... my mind bending question of the day...
Do you like the idea of "fate"?

I think you can view it as making you feel small and insignificant - Fate means that you are basically a little cog in a wheel destined to spin in a circle... your path of life has been pre defined and some of the choices you make are not really your free will. Perhaps you feel like your life path is predefined and its not really worth living.

You can also view it as a a big thing - You might be a one person, but you fit into a puzzle and many other peoples fates depend on your actions. You could be destined for big things or for smaller things, but you know that if you dont play out your part then the whole dynamic falls apart (kind of a butterfly effect thing).

Anyway glad to be back... i've had some time to think of some interesting things to write about.. hopefully we'll both back into the swing of things and keep some consistency in the posts.
